AI Assistant
A built-in chatbot for ad-hoc questions, drafting, and brainstorming. Today it's generic — Remy-aware AI is on the roadmap.
Overview
Remy includes a built-in chatbot you can talk to from the Chatbot entry in the sidebar. Today it's a general-purpose assistant — not yet wired to your Remy data — useful for the kind of work you'd otherwise pop open ChatGPT or Claude for: drafting outreach, summarizing notes you paste in, brainstorming follow-up ideas.
Remy-aware AI — the assistant that can search your notes, summarize a relationship, or suggest who to follow up with — is being built in a separate phase. See What's Coming at the bottom of this page.
How It Works Today
Type a message, get a response. Multi-turn conversations are saved automatically and accessible from the chat history sidebar. Pin a chat to keep it at the top.
You're not limited to one model. A model picker lets you choose between three tiers depending on how much horsepower the question needs.
Model Tiers
| Tier | Best for | Credit cost |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | Quick questions, summarization, simple drafts. Fast and cheap. | Lowest |
| Standard | Most everyday work — writing emails, brainstorming, working through a problem. | Mid |
| Premium | Complex reasoning, long-form analysis, multi-step thinking. | Highest |
Pick the tier per chat from the dropdown in the composer. You can switch tiers mid-conversation — it changes which model handles your next message, not the previous ones.
Each message you send consumes credits based on the tier you chose and the length of your conversation so far. Credits are separate from your subscription — see Credits for how they work and how to top up.
Chat History
Every chat is saved by default with a title generated from your opening message. Find them in the chat sidebar. Open any past chat to keep going where you left off.
- Pin important chats to keep them at the top.
- Rename a chat from its menu if the auto-generated title isn't what you want.
- Delete a chat to remove it permanently.
Deleting a chat is final — there's no undo today.
What's Coming
A separate set of capabilities is being built that will make the assistant aware of your Remy data. When it ships, you'll be able to ask things like:
- "Who in my network is in fintech and works at a Series B company?"
- "Summarize my last three notes about Alice."
- "Who did I meet through Bob, and which of those should I follow up with?"
- "Draft a follow-up message for Carol based on our last meeting note."
Today the chatbot can't read your contact book
The current assistant has no access to your contacts, notes, tags, or "introduced by" links. Pasting context into the chat works, but the assistant can't fetch it on its own. Remy-aware AI is the next major addition — stated honestly, not as a promise of a date.
What Gets Logged
Chatbot usage and credit consumption are tracked separately from the Activity Log — credit balance and a per-message consumption history live in Settings → Credits. The Activity Log is reserved for mutations against your contact book and account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my chats private?
Yes — your chats are scoped to your account and not visible to other users. They're sent to the AI provider for processing per the provider's standard terms; Remy doesn't fine-tune models on your data.
Can I export my chat history?
Not today. The full data export covers contacts, notes, tags, and intros (see Export) but does not include chatbot history. If you want a copy, use copy-paste from each chat.
Can I switch models mid-conversation?
Yes. Changing the tier from the dropdown affects your next message. Previous messages in the chat were generated by whichever model was selected at the time.
What happens when I run out of credits?
The composer disables and points you to Settings → Credits to top up. There's no overdraft.
Will Remy-aware AI cost credits the same way?
It will use credits, but per-message consumption may differ since data lookups have their own cost. Pricing details will be in Credits when the feature ships.
