Subscriptions
Plans, trials, upgrades, downgrades, cancellation, and where to find your invoices.
Overview
Remy uses two billing surfaces, intentionally kept separate.
- Subscriptions cover the application itself — the contact book, sync, notes, tags, intros. Free tier and paid tiers with trial periods.
- Credits cover AI usage — see Credits.
This page is about subscriptions. They're managed from Settings → Subscription.
Plans
Remy offers a free plan plus paid tiers with trials. The free plan covers the core memory layer — contacts, notes, tags, intros, Google sync. Paid tiers unlock higher AI usage and additional features.
The current plans, prices, and feature comparison are visible in Settings → Subscription, since they evolve as the product grows. The information shown there is the source of truth.
Starting a Trial
Pick a paid plan from Settings → Subscription and click Start trial. The trial is full-feature and doesn't require a payment method up front (configured per plan — most plans require none).
When the trial ends, you have two paths:
- Add a payment method — the plan continues at the listed price.
- Don't add a payment method — your account drops to the free tier on the trial end date. Your data is untouched.
A trial can only be started once per plan per account.
Upgrading and Downgrading
Switch plans any time from the same screen.
| Direction | When it takes effect |
|---|---|
| Upgrade | Immediately. Stripe charges a prorated amount for the remainder of the current billing period. |
| Downgrade | At the end of the current billing period. You stay on the higher tier until then. |
Either way, your data is unaffected — only the feature ceiling and price change.
Cancellation
Click Cancel subscription in Settings → Subscription.
Cancellation in Remy means scheduled to end at the period boundary, not immediate. You keep paid features until the end of your current billing period; nothing is charged on the next renewal date.
Reactivating before the period ends restores the subscription with no gap. Click Reactivate to do so.
Once the period ends, the account drops to the free tier. Your data is preserved. Re-subscribing later is a normal new subscription, not a "resume."
Cancellation does not delete data
Canceling moves you to the free tier. It doesn't touch your contacts, notes, tags, or any other data. To delete data, see Delete data — that's an explicitly separate action.
Invoices and Receipts
Every charge generates an invoice. See them under Settings → Subscription → Billing history — each entry has a downloadable PDF.
Stripe also sends invoices by email to the address on your account.
Updating Your Payment Method
Open Settings → Subscription → Payment method and click Update. You'll go to a Stripe-hosted page to enter a new card; once saved, it becomes the default for upcoming charges.
If a charge fails, Stripe automatically retries on its standard schedule, and Remy emails you. Repeated failures eventually downgrade your account to the free tier.
What Gets Logged
Subscription changes show up in your Activity Log:
- Plan Changed — the plan was upgraded or downgraded.
- Subscription Canceled — cancellation was scheduled.
- Subscription Reactivated — a previously canceled subscription was restored before the period ended.
Per-charge events (a successful card charge, a failed card charge) are not in the Activity Log; they live in your invoices and the email you receive from Stripe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a refund?
Mid-period refunds aren't issued automatically. Contact support with the invoice number and the reason — they're handled case by case.
Do paid features stop at cancel time or at period end?
At period end. Cancellation is "stop renewing," not "stop now."
What happens to my Activity Log if I downgrade?
Activity Log access is on every plan including free. Your full history stays available.
Is there a yearly discount?
If a yearly option is offered, it shows up under Settings → Subscription with the discount disclosed. Available plans are subject to change as Remy evolves.
Can I move my subscription to a different account?
No. Subscriptions are bound to the account that started them. To move, cancel on the old account and start a new subscription on the new one.
